The Mulberry Farm & Food Truck is another innovative solution in the fight to end homelessness and food insecurity in Des Moines and beyond. The food truck prepares fresh meals using produce and fish from the Schoen Greenhouse — maintained and harvested by Central Iowa Shelter and Services staff and job trainees. This partnership is an extension of existing programming that provides fresh, nutritious food for the community while also creating a self-sufficient revenue stream for the shelter.
Every meal purchased from the Mulberry Farm & Food Truck also provides a free meal to food-insecure Iowans through our Savor & Share initiative.
The community can stay in the know by “liking” the Mulberry Farm & Food Truck on Facebook and following along on Instagram. Each page will include information on progress, routes, and menu items so hungry folks can give back to those in need while enjoying delicious, locally grown meals!
