For this week’s The Other Side, we’d like to introduce you to Troy.
Troy first experienced homelessness while living in Washington, D.C. He saved up enough money to purchase a bus ticket to Des Moines, where he sought assistance from CISS. He worked for USPS for many years until an ACL injury caused him to lose his job. He is now working towards renting his own apartment in the Des Moines community.
We’re proud to help those experiencing homelessness get back on the path to self-sufficiency. His headshot, and others we featured in this series, are courtesy of THINK PHOTO LAB. These are part of a project we like to call The Makeover Moment, allowing those in our emergency shelter to see themselves in a new light.
